Facts:

Defendant’s daughter threw herself in front of a train and was killed. During the ensuing investigation, the police uncovered evidence that defendant had been molesting his daughter. Defendant gave two statements admitting that he had fondled his daughter. Defendant was charged with aggravated sexual battery. At trial, the circuit court admitted defendant’s statements into evidence. The circuit court also permitted three of the daughter’s friends to testify that the daughter had told them that her dad had molested her. Defendant was convicted of aggravated sexual battery by the Circuit Court of Fairfax (Virginia). Defendant sought review of his conviction.
